Exquisite immediately caught my eye. Such a dark, thrilling and sensual cover, I was desperate to find out what it contained inside and I was not disappointed.
When I got the email to ask me to join the blog tour I jumped at the chance and am so pleased to share with you my own personal review.
This is a rare book. The narrative is liquid and smooth, washing over you so easily that you don’t even notice the whole day is gone until you finish the book and the world has carried on without you. I read a lot of books and this has been one of the most enjoyable reads for me for a long time. I was delighted to see the spark that develops between Bo & Alice, how this developed and how the much older Bo juggles these feelings with her family. The story opens in first person with one of the main characters (you don’t know who until the end) writing from a prison. So you immediately know something deadly serious has happened and that one of them is responsible and you are forever guessing which one is most unreliable or most likely to do something so socially unacceptable she ends up in prison? A delicious guessing game.
The descriptive nature of the book, set in the Lake District, is also a metaphor for Bo & Alice’s exquisitely beautiful and intense relationship. There are descriptive passages so beautiful, I re-read them multiple times.
I highly recommend this book to all, even if you are not a fan of thrillers, as I can be sure that you will enjoy it.
