In Your Company

What do ‘I’ have to do?

To know you and get close to you

To make you laugh or smile or cry

I’m begging you to let me try

Would you love me just for me?

And not what I’m trying to be

I’ll arch my way into your heart

I love you – please – just let me start

I’d sacrifice to buy your time

To win your heart and make you mine

I’d try and try and try again

I’d die for you – just tell me when

But it’s no use, it’s true I know

You hate me – so I think I’ll go

But how could you want any other?

You’ll never have another mother
