The night sings to me as I paint
It swirls around my colours and around the village I remember
When I was there my world was dark
All except the night sky that twinkled to my loneliness
Stone walls surround me
People are coming
I must hide this picture in my head until I am unbound
It keeps me smiling
I never see any people, no people, just the night
The dark trees, church and hills
As I lie and try to make sense of the things in my head
I listen with my ear
The voices are rising, gaining strength and speed
The lights are exploding and burning my pale flesh
They have come for me again and are hiding in the walls
I hear them whisper to me, the horror of the calls
Then all goes dark
Except
For my view
Of
The starry night
