(In Homage to Mr Marlowe)
Run away with me and be my love
And we will revel in the delight of each other’s misery.
Fall apart into my arms
And let me stitch you up – one heartache at a time.
In a thread of tears, the tapestry of your life
Entangled in my fingers and tightly woven into a blanket to keep you safe and warm.
I run each multi-coloured thread against my beating heart
Pressing it to my lips in reverence.
Hoping to keep out the past with bright colours and warm caresses.
So that we can melt into this moment.
Then, when and if – becoming here and now.
If these delights thy mind may move, then
Run away with me and be my love.
